The Mountfield 1538M has a manual geared transmission with 5 forward and 1 reverse gear. The Mountfield 1538M is driven by a Mountfield ST500 series engine which is used on the majority of Mountfield lawn & garden tractors. This petrol engine has proved both reliable & easy starting for years.The 1538 M has a 98 cm / 38″ cutting deck which uses twin un-timed cutting blades for the best finish. Un timed blades allow the lawn tractor to mow over rough ground without any overlap. The cutter deck is also fitted with 2 anti-scalp wheels which help it to ‘float’ over the ground providing the optimum cut and finish to the grass. The heights of cut are adjusted through 7 positions from 25 – 80 mm. Grass trimmings are collected to the rear of the tractor into a large 240 litre collection box.
