Sherpa Electric Wheelbarrow
Today we are looking at another battery wheelbarrow; the Sherpa electric wheelbarrow. This high-quality battery-powered wheelbarrow is designed to make life easy in the garden, stable or even on a building site.
The current price of the Sherpa electric wheelbarrow is £799, including VAT, which saves £150 off the retail price. For peace of mind, the wheelbarrow comes with a two-year warranty.
Recently we looked at the Fieder battery wheelbarrow, which is considerably cheaper at £299.95. The Fieder battery wheelbarrow is more of a domestic wheelbarrow. However, it has very good reviews and offers value for money.

Sherpa Electric Powered Wheelbarrow
I am always looking to make life easier in the garden, especially when it involves machinery. The Sherpa battery wheelbarrow looks like a valuable tool for the garden. It is considerably more expensive than the Fieder battery wheelbarrow. However, it is designed for the domestic market and for semi-commercial use.
The Sherpa battery wheelbarrow is well made with a large 170 L steel galvanised tray for long life. The wheelbarrow has a pivoting system that allows the buck to be tipped up while the caster wheels stay on the ground.
The mainframe uses a heavy-duty tubular steel frame, making the wheelbarrow strong yet lightweight.
Large caster wheels take the weight of the Sherpa electric wheelbarrow, which means no effort is required from the operator. The caster wheels also enable the wheelbarrow to be turned 360°. This is perfect for tight spots within the garden or yard.
The only issue I can see with the caster wheels is that they could become clogged with mud in wet conditions. That would, in turn, stop the wheels from operating properly and efficiently. The variable speed is between 0 and 4 km/h, which is fast enough for most users.
Disc Brake
There is a disc brake that can be used to stop the wheelbarrow rolling or just control the barrow on slopes. The 40 cm chevron type tyre gives plenty of grip in wet and rough conditions.
Variable speed
The variable speed makes it easy to manage difficult terrain and adds to user comfort. The 24 V electric motor disengages the drive immediately so that the wheelbarrow can be used as a traditional wheelbarrow.
Rechargeable Battery
A 24 V rechargeable battery powers the Sherpa electric wheelbarrow which is removable for charging. Take care to fasten the battery down once it is in place; failure to do so could mean the battery could come out of the case. The battery has enough power in for a normal day’s work.
Final Thoughts
The Sherpa electric wheelbarrow is not a cheap item, however, it is built to last and to make life easier in the garden. The only downside with this electric power barrow is the caster wheels becoming clogged with mud in wet conditions. If the ground is really wet for the average gardener, they probably won’t be using the wheelbarrow!
If I was purchasing and money was no object, I would go for the Sherpa electric wheelbarrow over the Fieder battery wheelbarrow. However, there is a big difference in cost.
Both machines have very good reviews, but the Sherpa electric wheelbarrow is a better-built machine overall. I would expect this, considering the extra cost involved. The 170 L galvanised steel buck and the heavy-duty tubular design helps to give the wheelbarrow longevity.
The great thing is that both barrows come with a two-year warranty for peace of mind.
