Bertolini BTR-340H Transporter
Today we are going to look at the Bertolini BTR-340H Transporter. It’s always difficult to know what to use in the garden to move items around. We have all used wheelbarrows in the garden and even today they are still a very practical tool. However, a powered wheelbarrow seems like a great idea to me, maybe the Bertolini can help!
I’ve used various types of barrows in the garden, ranging from the traditional wheelbarrow to battery rechargeable barrows, compact tractors and trailers and large two-wheeled horse yard barrows. Probably the traditional single wheeled wheelbarrow comes out as a top choice today. However, let’s take a look at the Bertolini BTR-340H Transporter and see if this can be a help in your garden.
Bertolini BTR-340H Transporter
This is the smallest Bertolini transporter and is designed for the keen gardener rather than commercial use. Over the coming days will be looking at Bertolini’s larger machines that are designed for commercial use.
The Bertolini BTR-340H Transporter is ideal for carting and moving bulky items around the garden or yard. The transporter can be used for logs, grass, compost et cetera, is much easier than the traditional wheelbarrow.

Engine
The powered wheelbarrow has a choice of three engines, although my recommendation would be to purchase the Honda engine model. The engines available are a Honda, Briggs & Stratton and Emak, they are all around the 4 hp mark.
The particular model that we are talking about is powered by a Honda GCB 135 engine. This is a 135cc four stroke, overhead valve engine that develops 3.5 hp. It is a low emission engine and features Dura-Lube lubrication and a robust resin camshaft for excellent durability.
Many people including myself prefer Honda engines over any other engine. I have owned several machines that are powered by Honda and use many more Honda-powered machines. The engineering on Honda engines is excellent, they are quiet economical engines that are totally reliable.
There have been many times when I have left a Honda engine all winter and it will start up first pull in the spring. Honda also offers a good parts backup service. I don’t believe that I have ever had to buy a part for a Honda engine apart from the oil and fuel filters and spark plugs.
Just a quick bit of advice on the maintenance of your engine, make sure and use clean fuel and keep your oil and air filter clean. I always use a funnel with a filter on to refill fuel tanks, it stops any dust and dirt entering into the fuel system. It is of utmost importance to keep the air filter clean to keep your engine running efficiently and to prolong engine life. As for changing the oil, keep the oil clean and your engine will ask for many years. It’s far quicker and cheaper to change the oil on a regular basis rather than wear expensive metal components.
As always, refer to the manufacturer’s handbook for the maintenance schedule.
Transmission
With the rubber tracks, the Bertolini transporter is very light on the ground, the rubber tracks enable the machine to have a very low ground pressure will cause minimal damage to turfed areas. Although care is needed when turning sharply on turfed areas.
The Bertolini BTR-340H Transporter has a light touch brake-based steering, a two-speed gearbox, which is to forward speeds and two reverse speeds. This powered Barrow also has an excellent turning radius of 70 cm which is ideal for tight spaces.
It features a belt clutch, which automatically disengages when the drive lever is released.
Load Capacity
With a 350 kg load capacity, the Bertolini BTR-340H Transporter makes moving bulky and heavy loads simple with this powered barrow. The transporter has a telescopic loading platform that helps to shift awkward bulky loads with minimal effort. The transporter has the ability to dump at 45° using a manual operated dump mechanism.
To Conclude
It’s always difficult to know what to use in the garden, the many jobs wheelbarrow remains a very practical and cheap option. I often use a two-wheeled stable type barrow for garden waste, however, even when filled with grass this type barrow takes effort to move.
With the Bertolini power barrow you can move garden waste around the garden effortlessly. To me this seems like a good option, a low ground pressure machine that leaves a light footprint.
