Engine

The Masport 6.5XL Petrol Chipper-Shredder is powered by a high specification Briggs & Stratton engine. With a 208 cc engine developing 6.5 hp, the commercial-grade overhead valve engine develops excellent power and economy.

Twin Hoppers

With twin hoppers, the Masport 6.5XL Petrol Chipper-Shredder can cope with shredding and wood chipping. The small hopper is for branches up to 6.5 cm in diameter and the larger hopper is for shredding leaves, hedge clippings and green waste etc.

Branches are fed through the hardened steel blades that are mounted on a flywheel, this then produces quality woodchip. The woodchip can either be used as a mulch or composted, which is my preferred way. The shredder works by a series of metal flails that act like hammers and smash green garden waste into a fine mulch that can be composted.

Shredding green waste products from the garden drastically helps the composting process. The machine will considerably reduce the green waste in size making it much quicker and efficient to compost. I like to put everything back that I take out the garden. In other words, everything that is compostable, I will compost and then spread on the garden in the winter months. It’s amazing how beneficial this process is when it’s repeated year after year.
