As I mentioned the other day, I like to be able to reuse everything that I take out the garden and put back. The Feider FBT220 Petrol Chipper-Shredder will allow you to do exactly that. Two Feed Points

Traditionally commercial wood chippers have a large flywheel with two blades that chip against a hardened metal anvil. With a commercial shredder, the process is different. Instead of a flywheel with blades, there are what we call “flails” that smash the material into small pieces. You can often see flail mowers cutting the verges and hedges in fields. The great thing about flail is that it doesn’t need to be sharp like a traditional blade. The flail has more of a hammer action and beating action rather than a clean cutting action.

I have personally owned several different machines with Honda engines, and I have always been impressed with their economy and performance. There have been many times when I have left a machine unused over the winter for a few months. In general, Honda engines will start up on the first pull even after several months of being unused.

Having used Honda engines for many years, I know that the economy is excellent on these engines. I remember owning a pedestrian flail mower which was powered by a Honda engine. With so many different machines on the market sometimes it’s difficult to make the right decision. I know tree surgeons who use tracked machines and towable machines, both types of chipper have their advantages.

I like the idea of having a chipper that can be taken right to the job, in other words, a tracked machine can literally go to where you’re working, providing access is adequate. Tracked chippers and wheeled chippers both have their own benefits, the majority of tree surgeons that I know use wheeled chippers.
